The Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate says that the positive cases of tuberculosis (TB) in 2023 have decreased compared to previous years in Afghanistan.
 
Sharaf Zaman Amarkhil, the spokesperson of the ministry, stated that the cases of this disease have decreased compared to other years. Compared to 2019, the positive cases of tuberculosis in Afghanistan have decreased by 6%. And if we make a comparison between the number of this year and 2022, according to both, positive cases have decreased by 5.5%.
 
Mr. Sharaft Zaman added that in 2023, nearly 50,000 positive cases of tuberculosis or tuberculosis will be registered in Afghanistan, including women and children.
 
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health has also said that in 2023, more than 49,533 cases of tuberculosis have been registered across the country, of which 44% are women and 34% are men who are over 15 years old, and 22% are children. whose age is less than 10 years and they are suffering from this disease.
 
According to the information of the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate, the treatment of patients with resistant tuberculosis, who are resistant to the drugs of this disease, and their number is about 658, is still continuing.
 
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health stated that 873 health centers are operating in the field of providing services to tuberculosis patients. In big cities, 68 private hospitals have activated tuberculosis treatment departments under the coordination of the Ministry of Public Health, and more than 90 diagnostic centers have active devices.
 
According to the statistics and figures, the ministry has carried out public awareness through the media of the center and provinces in order to prevent tuberculosis or tuberculosis, and has also built new sites or centers for better access to patients.
